Classical style Acupuncture

An ancient medicine for modern health and wellbeing

Acupuncture is an ancient holistic medicine that treats each individual uniquely. Whether in physical, emotional or mental strain, acupuncture helps to get to the root of your symptoms, dealing with the underlying cause as well as the presenting symptoms. We do this using classical style acupuncture - a practice rooted in the ancient and classical texts of Chinese Medicine which views the body energetically taking into consideration the physcial (body) and non-physical (emotions, mind, psychology). We work with many conditions including:

  • Lower back pain

  • Sciatica

  • Arthritis

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Depression

  • Palpitations

  • Skin conditions (Eczema, Psoriasis)

  • Chronic conditions

  • Headaches/Migraines

  • Sleep Problems

  • Digestive issues

  • Emotional Blockage

  • Menstrual issues and PMS

"When we give ourselves the chance to let go of all our tension, the bodies natural capacity to heal itself can begin to work"

Nhat Hanh

Chinese Medicine and the practise of acupuncture views the body as the ultimate healer. In this way when space is created within, when blockages are removed and when flow is achieved, the individual can come into a place of better balance and alignment.

Acupuncture assists this process by working with fine needles along trajectories of the body known as meridians or channels. These channels connect the whole body into one unified system which includes all physiological and mental/emotional aspects. When our meridians are healthy and communicating well, then we will feel good and healthy in ourselves.

When we feel unwell and when symptoms start to appear it is commonly a sign or manifestation of internal imbalance. This is usually the result of poor lifestyle choices/habits, emotional upset/blockage, constitutional factors, inherited conditions, social challenges, poor diet and viral/bacterial invasion. When we become overwhelmed by one or more of these circumstances, our meridian system and in general our minds and bodies become blocked or stagnated and we can lose touch with ourselves.

As acupuncture is a holistic medicine, acupuncture practitioners look at more than just the presenting symptoms of each patient. Thorough diagnosis is made of the pulse, tongue and body to help understand the internal imbalance and to get to the bottom of why symptoms are appearing in the first place. In this way symptoms can be treated as well as the root or underlying cause/pattern which opens up to deeper healing. This is why people can feel "more like themselves" after a series of treatments.

How Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture work

"I've always had issues with sleeping, mainly because of stress. I hadn't tried acupuncture before so I was a bit hesitant. But Harry put me at ease straight away, he has a real way of making me feel comfortable and informed all the way through the session. My sleep started improving after three sessions, and now I go every week. He's improved my sleep, reduced my stress and made me feel a lot better. He's even treating a few friends now too!"

Usman, London

I had 2 sessions with Harry for my shoulder which has been giving me issues for over 4 years. After the first treatment I had complete movement of my shoulder again and the simple things I used to do that would cause pain were gone. I would still do things expecting the pain to occur, but it just didn't. Harry treats more than just pain and muscle fatigue. He treats you on an different level and it is such a great experience dealing with someone who has an understanding of the mind, body and spirit.

The Symptoms & The Root Cause

In Chinese Medicine and acupuncture the presenting symptoms of a patient are seen as manifested signs of a deeper problem known as the root of the condition/s. The root of a problem can vary widely with many manifested symptoms.

As an example, someone may present with lower back pain, arthritic knees and trouble with falling asleep. In Chinese Medicine the root of this condition would point to a deficiency or weakness of the kidney qi, also known as the water element. This means that the lower back pain, sleep problems and arthritic knees are all the presentation or manifestation of a deeper imbalance. By strengthening the kidney qi with acupuncture, in time the kidney qi will improve and symptoms can disappear.

In this way acupuncture attempts to address more than just the symptoms by penetrating deeper to the core of the problem/s. This is testament to it being a holistic medicine viewing each person as an individual and therefore treating everyone uniquely. By working on the root of someones problems, not only can symptoms be treated but that person can feel more balanced and aligned in general.
